OISCA International R.O.C. Chapter, Taiwan
Annual Report
(August, 2009-July, 2010)

The OISCA ROC, Taiwan Chapter, founded on January 16, 1973, continues to promote environmentally sustainable agricultural development, cultural diversity, and educational advancement to Taiwan. The council members consist of congressmen, ministers of agriculture, professors, financial entrepreneurs, business leaders, and agricultural business owners. The general affairs of ROC, Taiwan Chapter and activities conducted during the past year include:

Ⅰ. Improving Organization
1. In past 6 months, ROC Chapter has increased its membership base by 7 group members and 10 personal members. There are now 27 group members and 250 personal members of the routine maintenance.
2. We have issued new membership certification, familiarized members to the concept of OISCA and established cohesion.

Ⅱ. Ordinary Meetings
1. The Boards of Directors and Supervisors Joint Meeting was held three times last year, discussing the planned activities of 2009 and the work plan of 2010.
2. Our research team of biodiversity decided to implement the management of organic
agriculture.

Ⅲ. Organizing Related Activities
1. The commemoration of “2010 OISCA DAY” was held on July 16 at The Ambassador
Hotel. Mr. Nakano Toshihiro, Vice President of OISCA Japan Headquarter, participated in the assembly. In addition, approximately 100 honorable guests and members, government officials, and the public joined our commemoration.
2. Tree Planting Event : The member of OISCA in Taipei attended our tree planting event, which was led by Mr. Chen, Chiung-Sung, Board Chairman of ROC Chapter, and took photos with Taipei City Mayor Mr. Hau, Lung-Bin.
3. On May 12, 2010, the OB members, who are nominated by OISCA ROC Chapter, learnedabout organic agriculture, farming practices, biodiversity in Japan and participated in farm social activities. They exchanged views and ideas of agricultural affairs.
4. We encourage our volunteers to participate in the “Organic Agriculture of Festival” at National Taiwan University campus on November 21, 2009. Visit the Achievement Exhibition of Biodiversity in “Plus One! Plus You! 2010 International Year of Biodiversity Taiwan Action” on May 27, 2010. The exhibition is co-sponsored by the government and the public.

Ⅳ. Exchange Visits Activities
1. Mr. Asai Noboru and Mr. Tashiro Tadaomi, members of OISCA SHIZUOKA branch, made
a visit to Taiwan, with Executive Director Mr. Wu, Chien-Huo and Director Mr. Chang
Ping-Chang’s accompany reception on December 10, 2009.
2. A group of seven OISCA members, Mr. Hung, Po-Wu and agricultural owners, Ms. Zhao,
Liang-Hui, Ms. Liu, Li-Han, Mr. Tseng, Tsang-Yung and Mr. Liu, Bing-Hao were led
by Executive Director Mr. Wu, Chien-Huo to Japan on August 30, 2009. The group was
separated into two sections with arrangement of OISCA Foundation majorly to learn the
operation and management of organic farms, and of recreational farms for 10 days in
Nagano, Ibaraki, Miyagi, Shizuoka, and Gifu etc..
3. An 11-person group of farm youths, Li, Ya-Wen etc., led by Ms, Wu, Su-Zhen were
registered to study Japanese at OISCA College for the period of one month on July 21,
2009. The 14 farm youths of our members led by Mr. Pan, Chi-Yang, section chief of
OISCA ROC, departed for Japan on July 23, 2010. In addition to learning Japanese, they also learned about Japanese culture, history, geography, and familiarized with living the Japanese way.
4. Mr. Tomoda Kazuomi, OISCA College for Global Co-operation Principal and General
Manager Mr. Sugahara Atsuo visited OISCA ROC Chapter, and greeted by Mr. Chen,
Chiung-Sung, Board Chairman of ROC Chapter on October 27, 2009. Also Mr. Sugahara
Atsuo visited us twice to discuss exchange activities respectively in March July, 2010, and was greeted by General Secretary Mr. Lin, Jung-Pin.
5. The Board Chairman Mr. Chen, Chiung-Sung invited Executive Vice President of OISCA
Mr. Nakano Toshihiro and Counselor Mr. Okada Fumihiro to visit on July 14 ~July 17,
2010, and discuss exchange visits activities.

Ⅴ. Publication
The quarterly bulletins of OISCA ROC Chapter, has been revised. The new edition of
the Autumn issue of 2009 provides an informative review about organic agriculture and
biodiversity issues. The issue has been widely distributed to the OISCA members and the related institutes to bring awareness of the OISCA activities that were conducted.
